As the media begins their latest narrative – which is that the crowd at McCain/Palin rallies are just a 'lynch mob' of racist hicks hating on Obama – we must ask the question, which side is really spewing the divisive rhetoric?
Which side is really lowering the national discourse?
Apparently, it's been completely fine to go after The Hero in the most personal ways (his age, POW injuries, wife's money, etc.) but to even mention the radicals that have consistently floated in Obama's orbit for most of his adult life is 'hateful' and 'negative'.
The hypocrisy is mind-numbing.
It's hard to blame anyone who gives up and tunes all this crap out. On more than one occasion lately I've seriously considered doing just that. (But my 3 readers would probably be disappointed. Okay, maybe they wouldn't even care.)
Anyway, the lovely Michelle Malkin analyzes the whole mess here, and includes a great photo gallery.

I'll see your Michelle Malkin "insane rage" and raise you a couple of fresh videos:

I don't really know if I'd classify either one of those as examples of levity.
The "bottomless well" is easily exampled on both sides - Malkin's silly to even go there. I've seen so many Obama photoshops that I've wondered if there's a plug-in called "Auto-Dashiki."
The candidates have an obligation to address and temper any kind of hate speech that arises in their presence - that's what our leaders are supposed to do. McCain did this the other day, but with his renewed usage of Obama's middle name, I don't have to wonder what his true motives are - especially with crowds such as the ones showcased in the videos above.
And as 33.3% of your readership, keep up the quality entertainment.
Stroker,
Like I said, it's enough to make a sane person tune it all out. I think the point I was attempting to make was that our good friends in the mainstream media tend to focus on the nuts on the right and largely forget those on the left. You and I are engaged enough to see the 'examples' on both sides. But for many casual folks who just flip on the network news occasionally, what's the impression they're going to get?
